With a legacy of over 140 years of achievement, Tintern is one of Melbourne’s most respected schools, with students from our Early Learning Centre to Year 12. At Tintern we are committed to providing a workplace which encourages professional growth and opportunities for all staff.
About the Role
Commencing February, 2022 Tintern Grammar is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic teacher of electric bass and double bass to take on and build upon an existing tuition load of 2-3 hours per week. The successful applicant will teach students on an individual basis, with the emphasis on both classical and jazz/band repertoire. Students taking this subject range from Years 5 to 11 and the successful applicant must be able to relate to students across this age range. We are particularly interested in candidates who are able to work with future VCE bass students, as needed. This teaching position could also involve ensemble work including the tutoring of a 4-piece rock band and involvement in our jazz program, for the right applicant with the required experience. Skills as an accompanist, whilst not essential, also would be looked upon favourably.
The successful applicant will have proven experience teaching these instruments and excellent communication and organisational skills. Current VIT Registration or a Working With Children Check is essential. There should be availability to increase this load to a full day of teaching in the future.
Teachers will be expected to keep accurate attendance rolls, communicate regularly with parents, support regular solo and ensemble performance experiences for these students and write two assessment reports per year.
Applications for this position should include a covering letter, a current curriculum vitae and names and contact details of three referees. All applications should be forwarded by close of business on Friday 24 September.
Only people with the right to work in this country may apply for this position.
