About the School and the Role

Tintern Grammar is a leading independent school in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs and it has a history of over 140 years. Tintern is an ELC to Year 12 School with a Parallel Learning Model, thereby providing the best learning opportunities for students through a mix of single-sex and co-educational classroom experiences. The school is set in a beautiful expansive environment of gardens, ovals and impressive architecture.

Tintern Grammar is seeking to appoint a Grounds and Maintenance Assistant to work within the dynamic Facilities Services Department. The successful applicant will report to the Facilities Manager and be an integral member of the Facilities Services team. The successful applicant will have the ability to deliver a high standard of maintenance to all buildings, gardening, and grounds, including general work on the school’s farm.

You will have strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines across grounds, maintenance, and the farm.  A strong ability to build rapport, resolve inquiries and provide a high level of customer service.

This is a part time role working 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) 7.30am to 3.30pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

About the Role

As Grounds and Maintenance Assistant, you will be working collaboratively with the Facilities Services Team ensuring the efficient operation of the department. Consultation with internal and external stakeholders will be required to ensure smooth delivery across these key areas. You should be confident, passionate about your job, and uphold the values and ethos of Tintern Grammar.

The successful applicant should have:

  • A good practical knowledge of gardening and landscaping
  • A practical knowledge of general maintenance
  • Be able to carry out safe working practices with a minimum of supervision
  • Hold a current drivers license
  • Be organized, self-motivated and flexible
  • Commitment to excellent customer service
  • Collaborative team member
  • Courteous and friendly manner
  • A current valid Working With Children Check or willingness to obtain
  • Basic Computer skills including MS office suite
