Music camp is a three-day long event at which music students learn a massed finale for the Annual Music Concert. It is also a chance for the orchestras, bands and choirs to have some extra intensive practice on their repertoire for the concert. Music camp is full of fun activities run by the Music Captains, such as quizzes and kahoots about all types of music. On the Friday afternoon, some of the choirs and orchestras came together to perform and record “I am Australian”. This video recording will be sent to the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and will be combined with many other Australian groups online to help make one big orchestra all around Australia.

On Saturday, rehearsals continued and we came together to learn the piece for the massed finale. After lunch, the students took part in a fun activity where mixed groups improvised and performed an interpretation of the Tintern and Southwood school songs in different genres such as classical/opera, rap, reggae, folk and jazz, to name a few. After their performances, 3 judges decided which group was the best. Rehearsals continued throughout the rest of the weekend and this was a great chance for many of our young Middle School musicians to get to know the older musicians and really start to feel a part of the Tintern Music family.

We must thank the Friends of Music parents who came in and helped our wonderful Music Administrator, Mrs Feenane, to feed us all some yummy morning and afternoon teas and a delicious barbeque lunch. Many thanks, also, to the Music Staff who worked and rehearsed with us over the weekend. We are fortunate to have so many dedicated Music teachers at Tintern. We hope you can make it to our concert this Friday night in the CM Wood Centre starting at 7.30pm and concluding by 9.30pm. There will be something on the program for everyone.
