On Wednesday 22 May our Prep to Year 6 boys and girls came together to participate in National Simultaneous Storytime.

National Simultaneous Storytime is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association. Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. This year, Alpacas with Maracas by Matt Cosgrove was chosen as the book to be read across Australia and New Zealand. The message of Alpacas with Maracas is to celebrate friendship, working together, having a go, persisting and enjoying just doing our best… not necessarily winning. This message aligns to our Tintern values and is especially important for our Junior School students to explore throughout their learning journeys.

As you can see in the photographs the children and teachers enjoyed coming together to celebrate our love of reading. It was also fun to embrace the Mexican theme with piñatas, sombreros and maracas!
