Tintern Grammar students have had quite a lot of sporting success recently!

Congratulations to Year 12 student Rosie Addison who competed in the Australian Swimming Trials on the Gold Coast over the weekend. Rosie swam exceptionally well against the best swimmers in the country and finished 8th in the 200m Backstroke final with a time of 2:18.32. Rosie also competed in the 100m Backstroke and 50m Backstroke.

For the second year in a row, Year 10 student Paul Haasbroek has won the U/17 decathlon at the National Junior Athletics Championships on the weekend. Paul finished on 6,262 points and won five out of ten events. Congratulations Paul!

Congratulations to Erin Doupe in Year 11 who has just returned from a very successful trip to the USA, where she competed with her Cheerleading Team “The Outlaws”, at the biggest cheerleading competition in the world (23,655 athletes from 1,320 teams, representing nine countries). Erin’s Level 4 Senior All Girls Team placed 2nd in their event, a tremendous achievement and well deserved following the commitment and discipline shown by Erin and her teammates in developing and practising their routines over many months.

Congratulations to Corey Dickson in Year 10 for his recent success in the Victorian Junior Athletics Competition. Corey competed in the 5000 metre Walk and won the gold medal in a time of 24 minutes and 23 seconds which was 3 seconds off his personal best. He also achieved a personal best in the 3000 metre run.

Last but not least, Mitchell Snowball (Year 9) smashed the XC Eliminator last Friday night after racing the XC Relay earlier in the day.  His BMX skills were to his advantage, coming 3rd overall in open men and winning his age category, U15’s. He then proceeded to front up for his XC Olympic distance race the following morning and put in a hard race of 3 laps.  He came 21st out of 40 boys, with a sprint finish for 20th. Courtney Snowball (Year 12) also did us so proud, racing Sunday and after riding a really strong, technical race, coming in 3rd place for Junior Women.

Congratulations again Rosie, Paul, Erin, Corey, Courtney and Mitchell on these fantastic sporting achievements!
