School Governance

Tintern Grammar Board

The Tintern Grammar Board is responsible for governance of the School, setting of strategic direction, and review of plans and budgets established by the School Executive.

Governance is enacted by Board Members and additional Committee Members through a number of committees that oversee the financial, facilities and risk obligations of the School. The Board delegates responsibility for the operational and administrative functions of the School to the Principal.

Chair of the Board

Alexander Danne is a recognised lawyer who leads the Energy Project team at Clayton Utz Lawyers.  Formerly a Partner and founding Head of Energy and Infrastructure at another major national commercial firm, he advises numerous national and global clients across the Australian energy and infrastructure markets.

He holds degrees in Law (Hons), Science, International Law, and Applied Finance, and is regularly listed among the top lawyers across various industry rankings and tables.

A father of four and passionate advocate for values-based education, he sees great merit in Tintern’s unique Parallel Learning model and is committed to supporting the School for its long-term growth, sustainability, and lasting positive impact for all of its students.

Deputy Chair of the Board

Louis Nottle is a General Manager with a BE (Chem) and more than 30 years of experience improving operational performance across the food and packaging industries.

Beginning his career as a Research Assistant in confectionery, he has since led operational functions in a range of manufacturing environments, bringing particular expertise in OHS, process improvement and efficiency. His career highlights include commissioning a new confectionery line in China, developing dairy products for the Australian market, and speaking at national conferences on sustainable packaging.

As a Tintern parent of two graduates, Louis believes strongly in the School’s impact on every student and is committed to contributing his operational insight to support its continuous improvement.

Aaron Cordy is a Chartered Accountant and Managing Director with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne.

He brings extensive experience as a Chief Financial Officer, having overseen the financial operations of large corporate entities before moving into broader strategic leadership. Aaron has led major transactions, including a $100 million business sale to a NASDAQ-listed company, and has successfully executed numerous acquisitions and integrations.

His leadership guided business performance through the challenges of COVID. At Tintern, Aaron draws on his strong financial and commercial expertise to ensure the School remains well-positioned for the future.

Paul Chen brings over 30 years of expertise in construction and development, with a career leading landmark projects and establishing operations for major developers across Australia.

Holding degrees in Planning and Design and in Property and Construction from the University of Melbourne, Paul has directed projects exceeding $700 million in value, including Sydney’s tallest residential building. He has extensive experience leading cross-functional consultancy projects, guiding technical compliance, and optimising resources to deliver sustainable outcomes. Known for balancing fiscal responsibility with regulatory integrity and community expectations, Paul has helped drive national expansion, delivery excellence, and sector-wide innovation.

At Tintern, he provides strategic oversight of infrastructure, compliance, and operational planning, ensuring campus development and its facilities supports the School’s educational vision and long-term growth.

Larisa Chisholm is a Chief Operating Officer with a strong track record in executive leadership across the healthcare and tertiary education sectors.

With a BSc (Hons), MBA and a graduate of the prestigious Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), she brings multi-disciplinary expertise in governance, finance, stakeholder engagement, and operational strategy within highly regulated environments. Larisa has led teams and built businesses across the public and private sectors, helping secure over $30 million in grant funding for global medical research and clinical trials.

A passionate advocate for Tintern’s values and culture, Larisa is committed to applying her business acumen to support the School’s growth strategy thus nurturing the next generation of lifelong learners who will help shape a better, brighter future.

Dr Jessica Davies brings extensive leadership experience in data, technology, and strategy across government, private, and not-for-profit sectors. She holds a PhD in Spatial Data Infrastructure, along with degrees in Geomatic Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Melbourne, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Currently Head of Analytics and Insights at Defence Bank, Jessica has led enterprise-wide reporting and governance initiatives, embedding evidence-based insights into decision-making and strengthening organisational accountability. She has advised senior leaders and boards on data strategy and risk, while mentoring early-career professionals in inclusive, future-focused teams.

A former student and parent of a Tintern graduate, Jessica is passionate about education and youth development, and is dedicated to supporting Tintern’s long-term success through strong governance, financial sustainability, and innovation.

Paul Gracey is a senior executive with global experience in technology and business transformation. As Vice President and Head of Printing for Greater Asia at HP, he leads high-performing teams across complex markets, driving record growth and advancing HP’s digital shift. He has completed executive programs at Macquarie Business School, Stanford University, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Formerly Director for Print Transformation globally at HP, Paul brings strategic insight, commercial acumen, and a strong governance perspective. His future-focused approach, grounded in deep community insight and a commitment to innovation in education, enables him to guide board decisions that drive long-term sustainability and strong student outcomes.

Luke Meeve is a senior executive and company director with nearly two decades of experience advising CEOs, boards and leading large operational, legal, and governance functions in listed, government, and privately held organisations. His experience spans a range of industries, including technology, healthcare, science, FMCG, manufacturing, financial and tourism.

Currently, Luke is General Counsel at a top ASX-listed technology company. He has previously held senior roles at leading Australian and international companies, law firms and investment banks. Luke’s professional background is complemented by postgraduate study at the University of Oxford, Melbourne Business School, and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).

With a deep alignment with the School’s values, approach and mission, Luke has brought a strong community-focused mindset to Tintern since joining in 2023.

Jacinta Richards Wain is a Principal Lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws and extensive experience in personal injury litigation, including Transport Accident Commission (TAC), WorkCover, Public Liability, and Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claims.

In addition to her legal practice, Jacinta mentors junior lawyers and students, fostering professional growth and development. She serves as Deputy Chair of the Board at METEC Driver Training and President of the Eastern Solicitors Law Association, reflecting her commitment to community engagement and leadership.

As a Tintern board member, Jacinta brings strategic insight, legal expertise, and a deep appreciation for the School community’s values. She hopes her contribution to strategic decision making will ensure Tintern’s strength and relevance for the years ahead.

Mike Taylor brings over 25 years of experience in the information technology sector, with 15 years in senior and managerial roles.

He holds a Master of Information Management from Victoria University of Wellington, alongside industry certifications in business model innovation and AI, specifically machine and deep learning, and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Mike has also contributed his leadership skills in the community, serving as President on the executive of local groups. With expertise spanning technology, governance, and risk, he offers valuable insight into emerging challenges such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.

At Tintern, Mike is committed to strengthening governance and helping the Board navigate the opportunities of a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

COMMITTEE MEMBERS

With over 30 years of experience as a General Practitioner, Dr Lyndon Best has provided healthcare across Australia, from metropolitan regions in Victoria to remote communities in the Northern Territory.

A former army medical officer, he led teams for eight years in the Royal Australian Army and has held leadership roles in youth sport, including as President of Brimbank Little Athletics and Coaching Director at Little Athletics Victoria. Lyndon holds multiple postgraduate qualifications in medicine, health services management, and sports medicine.

Passionate about childhood health and development, he is committed to supporting Tintern through programs that foster student wellbeing, holistic growth, and community connection to ensure the School continues as a thriving, inclusive environment.

Malcolm brings more than 40 years of experience across the infrastructure and civil engineering sectors, with a career spanning planning, design, operations and asset management. His work has encompassed a broad range of projects across water, transport, building, energy and environmental systems, alongside extensive involvement in stakeholder and community consultation.

A longstanding member of the House and Grounds Committee, Malcolm contributes valuable expertise and continuity to the stewardship and development of the School grounds.

Reverend Maria Brand brings extensive leadership experience across education, ministry, and community life.

With qualifications in psychology, theology, and divinity, Maria has served as a chaplain in primary, secondary, and tertiary settings, and as Lead Minister at several Anglican parishes, including St Stephen’s Warrandyte, Mullum Mullum, and currently Glen Waverley. Alongside her pastoral leadership, she has contributed as a director on a number of boards, strengthening governance through her blend of educational, community, and faith-based insight.

As both a local leader and a parent of current Tintern students, Maria is committed to supporting governance that reflects Tintern’s values, and a strong vision for the School’s future.

Simon Casey brings more than 30 years of experience as a Risk Management Consultant, with a career spanning leadership in both specialist firms and global engineering organisations.

A graduate of Imperial College London with a Master of Engineering (Chemical), Simon was the first Australian registered as a Professional Process Safety Engineer with the Institute of Chemical Engineers. He co-directed a consultancy of 50 staff, managed international teams, and contributed to the early development of risk management techniques widely used today.

Alongside his professional work, Simon serves as State Commissioner for Risk with Scouts Victoria and sits on Scouts Australia’s National Risk Management Committee. Simon’s keen eye for detail, innovative thinking and background in youth organisations, offers a well-rounded perspective to the School.

Jared Smith is a finance professional with a strong background in accounting, applied finance, and digital innovation. He holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and a Master of Applied Finance (Financial Planning).

Jared is currently a Digital Advice Product Owner, and brings experience in strategic planning with high net worth clients and major financial services organisations. His achievements include establishing Zurich Australia’s personal advice business in 2022 and leading transformational initiatives at ANZ in private banking and digital advice.

With a forward-thinking approach, Jared brings valuable external insight to Tintern’s Board. He is committed to supporting strong financial governance and strategic planning to strengthen the School in its mission for generations to come.

Dieni Powell brings senior leadership experience across both secondary and tertiary education and is currently serving as Vice-Warden at St Paul's College, The University of Sydney.

With a Master of Teaching and ongoing study at Harvard Business School, her background spans student wellbeing, operations, and the development of trauma-informed, inclusive educational communities. The frameworks she’s developed when leading strategic change, strengthen belonging, enhance staff capability, and deepen community connection. Dieni has contributed to sector-wide initiatives around residential life, student safety, and values-based education.

At Tintern, she is committed to supporting a future-focused Board that champions student wellbeing, strengthens educational excellence, and nurtures a culture grounded in care, curiosity, and meaningful community engagement.

 

HOUSE AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE

The House and Grounds Committee consists of representatives from the Board, general Committee Members and members of the School Executive. Its role comprises consideration of building refurbishments, infrastructure and ground maintenance, and future building developments.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

The Finance Committee consists of representatives from the Board, general Committee Members and members of the School Executive. Its role encompasses consideration of fee structures, long-term financial planning and Tintern’s yearly operational budget.

EXECUTIVE

The Tintern Grammar Executive (TGE) is responsible for the development of educational policies and practices within the School at a daily operational level. The Principal, with the TGE, is also responsible for the implementation of decisions of the School’s Board, and for all operational activity of the School.
