Who volunteers to be dunked in ice cold water on a freezing Melbourne morning? These teachers! A big thank you to Tintern Grammar Junior School staff Emma Shelton, John Bonnyman, Sandy Batty, Caroline Gray, Damian Ryan, Simone Draper and Claire MacDonald who took part in The Big Freeze this morning, all in support of raising awareness for Motor Neurone Disease.
This year’s event carried even greater significance following the recent passing of Neale Daniher, whose courage, resilience and tireless advocacy transformed FightMND into one of Australia’s most recognised charitable campaigns. His determination inspired millions of Australians and helped raise extraordinary awareness and funding for MND research.

This week, we celebrated our annual Festival of Cultures Week, a vibrant reflection of the diversity that makes the Tintern Grammar community so special. The week encourages respect and appreciation of the many cultures represented across our School, while strengthening students’ sense of belonging.
Throughout the week, students from Years 7–12 enjoyed a range of lunchtime activities organised by a dedicated team of students, staff and parents, including karaoke, hip hop dancing, cheese rolling and the much-loved Festival of Cultures tasting day.
Thanks to the incredible support of our community, all profits raised will be donated to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre supporting their important work with those most vulnerable.

Recently, Tintern Grammar’s Community Service and Outreach group held a clothes swap, giving students the opportunity to exchange their pre-loved clothing items. After weeks of planning and promotion, the initiative was a huge success, with more than half of the donated items finding a new home within the Tintern community and the remaining clothing donated locally.
With more than 300,000 tonnes of textile waste produced in Victoria each year, supporting a circular economy has never been more important as we work towards a more sustainable, low-waste future.
The student organisers would like to thank everyone who helped plan the initiative and generously donated clothing. A special shout out also goes to all those who got involved on the day and helped make the event such a success.

This morning’s annual Tintern Grammar Cathedral Service for Years 7-12 was held at St Paul’s Cathedral. Bringing together our secondary students, staff and parents it was a moving celebration of connection and our Anglican tradition.
This year’s theme of transformation was perfectly captured by our guest speaker Eric Agyeman, author and inspirational speaker. Eric spoke of a troubled youth and how he overcame adversity to transform his life, sharing with us, how the power of faith helped him on his journey to rebuilding his life and making his future count.
The Cathedral was filled with the beautiful sounds of our talented choirs, soloists and orchestras and it was a joy to hear them lead our community in song and reflection.

Compass Day was a time for Tintern Grammar Year 7 and 8 students to step back from their classes to focus on social and emotional learning, and respectful relationships. Using a research-informed approach to wellbeing, students worked with their Pastoral Mentor through activities including assertive help seeking, emotional literacy, positive coping and self-talk scenarios. The day was also peppered with games, competitions, crafts and a conversation with Year 12 Student Leaders.
