Here at Tintern Grammar we cater to each and every child, we understand every child learns differently and every path of learning is unique. In the Senior College we offer both VCE and VCE/VET pathways, ensuring that our graduates are well-rounded and capable individuals, that are prepared for the future and ready to take on the world beyond the gates of Tintern.
The Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) is administered by the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and is a two year course. Apart from the study of English, no other subjects are compulsory. Students may choose to specialise in areas of interest such as the Sciences, the Humanities or the Arts, or select a more general course from these and other areas. The VCE comprises a number of ‘Units of Study’, each designed to take one semester to complete. Units 1 and 2 are designed for Year 11 students while Units 3 and 4 are for Year 12 students. There is a great deal of flexibility within the VCE so that it is possible for students to study Units 3 and 4 in Year 11.
VET in the VCE allows students to include VET within their senior secondary certificate. Students undertake nationally recognised training from either accredited state curriculum or national training packages which may contribute to their VCE.
In 2020, 18% of our Year 12 cohort achieved an ATAR in the top 5% in Australia, 34% in the top 10% and 47% in the top 15%. The School’s median ATAR was 81.33. For further information about our results, please view our 2020 Year 12 results booklet which will be available soon.
