Scholarships

Scholarship applications for 2019 are now open

Please find information below on how to apply for a Tintern Grammar Scholarship, as well as the types of Scholarships we offer.

Academic Scholarships

Academic Scholarships are available to students entering Years 5-11 in 2019. Academic Scholarships are awarded on the basis of the student’s results from an independent examination held in October 2017 as well as their application, Naplan and School reports.

General Excellence Scholarships

General Excellence Scholarships are available to students entering Years 7-11 in 2019. The Student application must demonstrate a balance between academic potential as well as talent in a range of cocurricular areas, their qualities of leadership and willingness to become involved in all facets of school life.

All General Excellence applicants are required to sit the independent examination in October 2017.

Music Scholarships

Music Scholarships are available for entry into Year 7 to 11 in 2019.

Music Scholarships are offered on the basis of the student’s music audition as well as the results from the independent examination held in October 2017.  During the audition students must demonstrate outstanding music ability. Students are required to play two contrasting pieces and arrange their own accompanist.  Auditions will take place in the week of 16 – 20 October, details of an audition time will be advised.

Music Scholarships for 2019 will be available for the following instruments:

Year 7 and 8 entry

String and Woodwind Instruments must be Grade 5 AMEB standard or above.

Brass Instruments must be Grade 3 AMEB standard or above.

Year 9, 10 and 11 entry

String and Woodwind Instruments must be Grade 6 AMEB standard or above.

Brass Instruments must be Grade 4 AMEB standard or above.

IMPORTANT: Results will not be released to parents.

Alumni Scholarships

The Dr Sylvia Walton AO Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a female child of any past student entering in Years 7 to 12, who is able to demonstrate achievement in several fields of endeavour and whose parents’ financial means make it difficult to send a child to Tintern Grammar.

Candidates are still required to sit for the general scholarship test. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholarship test results, school reports and NAPLAN results, along with an interview with a senior member of staff and any additional information as required during the application process.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide financial disclosure upon request.  

The Mike Blood Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a male child of any past student entering in Years 7 to 12, who is able to demonstrate achievement in several fields of endeavour and whose parents’ financial means make it difficult to send a child to Tintern Grammar.

Candidates are still required to sit for the general scholarship test. The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of scholarship test results, school reports and NAPLAN results, along with an interview with a senior member of staff and any additional information as required during the application process.
